Curiosity Makes for Better Copywriting and Design

Why is curiosity so important to us? When we’re curious, we’re excited to learn. Honestly, it’s easy to get stuck in a rut once you are finished with formal training or to think (or pretend) you know something when you don’t. That is lazy. Learning is work— There’s no getting around that. The kicker is you have to want to learn and sometimes you have to manufacture enthusiasm.

It’s important because, in our line of work, when curiosity isn’t part of the process, we’ll just repeat the same ideas, designs and words sprinkling them around various industries for different clients.

We’ve seen it happen. And, look: There isn’t anything wrong with borrowing ideas, even your own, and making them better. But if you don’t take the time to be enthusiastically curious about a new client and the work they’re passionate about, you’ll just produce boring work that no one will care about.

That isn’t why we are here.

So, we ask a lot of questions and we strive to understand the businesses we work with and the people who created those businesses. We want to know what makes them get out of bed in the morning, what their customers are like and what their relationship with their customers looks like. When we do that work—that important work—we can create interesting marketing for our partners that resonates with their target audience and work that we can stand behind with pride.
